Build a Beautiful Paver & Gravel Walkway with One Smart Upgrade

Most DIY projects finish with gravel around the pavers, but there's one more step worth considering: rock glue.

Here's how to build your walkway and give the gravel a more stable finish.

Four Steps to Build Your Walkway

Plan the Route

Mark the path and walk it to check the spacing between pavers.

Prepare the Base

Clear the route, grade for drainage, and compact the base.

Set the Pavers

Set each paver firmly, with no rocking underfoot.

Add the Gravel

Fill around the pavers, keeping gravel below the walking surfaces.

Four steps done. But not quite finished.

AFTER THE BUILD

The Cleanup Keeps Coming

Foot traffic, wind, and routine yard work can shift loose gravel onto your pavers and beyond the walkway edges, creating cleanup long after the build is done.

ROCK GLUE

A FINISHING STEP FOR LOOSE GRAVEL

After all the work you've put into your walkway, don't overlook the finishing touch. Rock Glue helps stabilize loose gravel, reducing the need for constant sweeping and touch-ups.

THE LEAF BLOWER TEST

One Blower. Different Results. Shabebe Holds.

Loose gravel can scatter the moment you start yard cleanup.

Watch how Shabebe Rock Glue keeps stones in place while the comparison stones shift under the leaf blower.

THE BIG QUESTION

Is Rock Glue Worth It for a Gravel Walkway?

Yes, especially when loose gravel keeps shifting between otherwise stable pavers.

Rock glue can help stabilize that gravel layer, reducing the stones that scatter onto the walking surface, lawn, and garden beds during daily use and yard cleanup.

LESS UPKEEP. MORE TIME TO ENJOY.

You built it to enjoy it, not to keep sweeping it.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

3 Gravel Details That Matter

Gravel Depth

Keep gravel 2–3 stones deep, with stones touching. Keep the surface slightly below the paver tops.

Gravel Choice

Rock glue works best with pea gravel, pebbles, and decorative stones up to 2 inches across.

Clean & Dry Gravel

Remove loose dirt, dust, and leaves so the glue can bond directly to the stone surfaces.

CHOOSE THE FINISHING METHOD

New Walkway or Existing Gravel? Start Here.

01. BUILDING A NEW WALKWAY

Mix Before You Lay

Mix Rock Glue Pro with gravel before laying it around the pavers. This helps the binder reach stone-to-stone contact points throughout the gravel layer.

02. WORKING WITH AN EXISTING PATH

Spray the Gravel in Place

For an existing path, remove debris, level the gravel, and apply two coats as directed. Let the gravel dry before walking on it.
